Does the Forty Forty Challenge change each year?
Yes. Each year brings a new Forty Forty Challenge and new readings. The 2026 Forty Forty Challenge focuses on Acts.
For 2027, we’ll go through the book of Matthew. The Forty Forty season begins with our Lent/Easter Challenge on Ash Wednesday. Our new 31-day New Year’s Challenge is a separate experience that comes before the 2027 Forty Forty season.
Is the Forty Forty Challenge a Bible study?
Yes—it can be, especially when you join our Facebook accountability group. The Forty Forty Challenge helps you build daily Jesus Habits through Scripture, movement, and putting your faith into action. The group gives you a place to go deeper together.
Inside the Facebook group, we use guides to support your Bible reading and help you reflect on what you’re learning. Use them alongside your readings to better understand Scripture, consider how it applies to your life, and grow closer to Jesus.
You can ask questions, share what stands out to you, learn from other challengers, and encourage one another to keep going. Whether you’re new to reading the Bible or already have a daily rhythm, you can participate at a pace that helps you grow.
Our 2027 Forty Forty Challenge will take us through the book of Matthew, beginning with our Lent/Easter Challenge on Ash Wednesday.
Your emailed receipt includes the link to join the Facebook accountability group.
Dates & community
Choose your session and connect with others.
Why are there different challenge dates?
Different challenge sessions give you the flexibility to choose a time that fits your life.
Our seasonal challenges also offer distinct experiences. Advent 2026 comes first, followed by our new 31-day New Year’s Challenge for 2027, then the 2027 Forty Forty season beginning on Ash Wednesday with Lent/Easter.
Check each challenge listing for its specific dates and details.

Your daily challenge
The rhythm of the main 40-day Forty Forty Challenge.
Do I have to walk?
You can choose if you want to run or walk 1 mile per day. If you are unable to walk or run a mile a day, find a physical fitness activity that can amount to 20 minutes a day to focus on Christ.
Can I do more than one mile a day?
Yes, you can do as many miles as you would like. However, if you were to run 5 miles you will want to make sure that at least one of those miles is focused on Christ. One mile a day counts towards the challenge, unless you need to do a make up day.
What if I miss a day?
We encourage you to complete the 40 days and miles in a row, but we understand that life happens. If you miss a day, you can double up the next day to catch up.
How do I track my miles?
You can track your miles in whatever way works best for you. Many participants use a smartphone mileage app.
For help getting started, email fortyfortychallenge@gmail.com or ask your accountability group what they use.
What are the 40 challenges like? Can you give some examples?
The 40 optional challenges are meant to help you grow to be more like Jesus and develop Jesus Habits. The challenges could be: create a prayer list for the 40 days, make a meal for a neighbor, or call someone you have not talked to in a long time and catch up 🤍
Are the daily faith challenges optional?
Challenges are optional. Within 40 days you will have the opportunity to complete 40 challenges. Your challenges will be attached to your daily scripture readings. The challenges are created to help grow your faith while learning to act more like Christ. Most people read their devotional for the day and then that is it. We are challenging you to bring your devotional to life with our 40 challenges.
Bible Challenges
Keep growing, one book at a time.
Can I explore other books of the Bible?

These are separate from our seasonal challenges and the main Forty Forty season. Visit the shop for the latest availability and details.
Previous annual challenge kits are not kept in stock once their year ends.
Will the Romans Bible Challenge include a medal?
Yes—a Romans Challenge update with a medal is planned for sometime in 2027.
The medal is part of that upcoming update. Check the Romans product listing when the update launches to see exactly what is included before ordering.

Our purpose & beliefs
The heart and faith behind Forty Forty.
Where do your proceeds go?
We believe in full transparency and thoughtful stewardship of every dollar.
10% of all proceeds go directly into our yearly scholarship fund to support Christian students, Christian Start-Ups, and people in need. You can learn more and meet our scholarship recipients on our Scholarship page.
A large portion of our remaining budget is used for advertising and marketing. Just getting someone to our website can cost us several dollars per visitor—and many more to get someone to join. But we believe it’s worth every penny if it means more people walking with Jesus and growing in their faith.
The rest of our proceeds go toward supporting our small but mighty team—packers, planners, marketers, and customer service—who make this ministry possible. We’re not backed by investors or million-dollar corporations. We’re a Christian-run, purpose-driven business trying to share the Gospel, one challenge at a time.
What does Forty Forty believe?
Forty Forty Challenge Doctrine Statement
At Forty Forty Challenge, we are fully rooted in the truth and authority of God’s Word. Our mission is to help people walk with Jesus daily—physically and spiritually—through Scripture, community, and obedience. We joyfully affirm the following core beliefs:
1. The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is without error in all it affirms and is the final authority for faith and life.
2. God
We believe in one eternal God, Creator of all things, who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is holy, loving, and sovereign.
3. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God—fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will return one day to reign in glory.
4. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit dwells in all believers, empowering them to live godly lives, convicting the world of sin, and guiding us into all truth.
5. Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. It is not earned by works, but is a gift of God. Through His death and resurrection, we are forgiven, made new, and adopted into God’s family.
6. The Church
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of all believers everywhere. We are called to love one another, grow in Christlikeness, and make disciples of all nations.
7. Christian Living
We believe followers of Jesus are called to live lives marked by love, humility, holiness, and daily obedience to God’s Word.
8. The Return of Christ
We believe Jesus will return bodily and visibly to judge the living and the dead, and to establish His eternal kingdom.
Where is Forty Forty based?
We are located out of Wisconsin, but the Forty Forty Challenge runs nation-wide. We have had challengers from all 50 states!
