If I asked you, “What’s your story?” what would you say? 🤔


Would you pause, trying to figure out how to answer? 

Or maybe you’d shrink away, thinking, “I don’t have a story – what do you mean?” 


What if I asked about your testimony? Would you light up, eager to share how dark your life was before God rescued and transformed you? Or would you hesitate, wondering if it’s even worth telling? 


If you’re like me, you might have come to know Jesus at a very young age. Maybe you didn’t experience a dramatic “before and after” moment. Maybe your faith journey feels steady, regular – even a little boring. 🥱


If that’s the case, it would be easy for you to conclude, “My story’s not that exciting. It doesn’t really matter.” 


Friend, let’s talk about that. The enemy would LOVE for you to believe your story isn’t important. But that’s NOT what God says! 🙅


In the Jesus challenge, you’ll get the opportunity to spend intentional time digging into the countless ways God’s worked in your life all along and how he wants to use your “ordinary” story in extraordinary ways. 


The Jesus virtual challenge is the perfect place to start sharing your story and let God use it for His glory – whether in the Facebook accountability group, with new neighbors you meet on your daily walk, or even with the family and friends God’s already placed in your life. Your story matters, and God can use it more than you can imagine! 


What Is a “Testimony?” 

I used to think “testimony” meant that singular moment when I asked Jesus to be the Lord of my life. And while that’s a powerful moment in our stories, it just scratches the surface of what testimony really means. 


Your testimony isn’t ONLY about how you first met Christ. It’s any story of God’s faithfulness in your life – past, present, and future. That means you don’t just have one testimony – you have many! 😍


Testimony” means a declaration of truth of what you’ve seen or experienced firsthand. In the virtual Jesus challenge, you get time to reflect on those moments – to recognize God’s deeply personal and active work in your everyday life. 


As a believer, you’re called to witness to God’s faithfulness in your life – yes, EVEN if it feels small or boring (to you). 


  • Every answered prayer – a testimony. 

  • Every hard season He carried you through – a testimony. 

  • Every unexpected blessing, no matter how small – yup, testimony. 

  • Promises He made and has yet to fulfill - a testimony in the making. 


God is constantly at work in your life. Are you sharing it? 🫵


In the virtual Jesus challenge, you have space for that. Whether you’re praising God for the freedom He’s given you, opening up to the Facebook accountability group, or encouraging someone walking through a similar situation – sharing your story is an important part of spiritual growth and maturity. 


God did not write your story to keep to yourself. God entrusted you with it to point others back to Him, to be used for His glory. 🙌


Someone (more someones than you probably realize) needs to hear what He’s done in your life. 


Will you tell them? 


The Woman at the Well: A Masterclass in Testimony-Sharing 

Whenever I hear the word “testimony” the story of the woman at the well comes to mind. I know you’ve heard this story, but let’s refresh: 


Jesus is traveling and stops at Jacob’s Well in Samaria. A Samaritan woman comes to draw water during the heat of the day, clearly avoiding all the other women who draw water in the morning or evening. Jesus strikes up a conversation – something unheard of in that culture. 🤯


Then, in a moment that must have sent chills down her spine, Jesus – have NEVER met her before – tells this woman everything about herself. Her past, her mistakes, her struggles. ALL OF IT. But instead of judging and shaming her for her dark story, Jesus tells her He is the long-awaited Messiah and offers her Living Water that will satisfy all her deepest longings. 


The Woman’s Shocking Response

The woman is astounded. 😱 I don’t blame her! 


She could have easily taken the path of least resistance, kept this life-changing moment to herself, and quietly returned to her daily routine. She could think, “Wow… could that really be the Messiah? I can’t believe He knew all that stuff about me … how embarrassing! Oh well, I’ll probably never see Him again. Time for coffee!” 🤷🏻


(Be honest, how much do we do that when God moves in our lives??) 


But she didn’t. 


John 4:28-30 tells us: 

“Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?’ They came out of the town and made their way toward Him.” 


Did you catch that? She was so eager to share what God did that SHE LEFT HER WATER JAR BEHIND. 


The whole reason she went to the well in the first place didn’t matter anymore! She didn’t give it a second thought. After hearing Jesus speak to her, all her priorities changed drastically, and water wasn’t important. ⚖️


Instead, she eagerly ran to her town and told everyone she saw about what Jesus did. And because of her openness to share her testimony, many Samaritans believed in Him! 

 

YOU Are the Woman at the Well

That, 👆right there, is why YOUR story matters. And it’s exactly why I encourage you to share your testimony in the Jesus challenge. You have no idea what someone’s wrestling with in the privacy of their heart, and your story could very well be exactly the nudge they need to run to Jesus. 


God loves working through our stories. He could use any means to share His love and truth – but He chooses to use US. What an honor! 🥹


Your Story = Christ’s Power in Your Weakness 

Did you notice? This woman didn’t share her story to make herself look good. Sharing her story meant bringing to light the not-so-great parts of her life. But she did it because it wasn’t about her at all – it was about Jesus. 


2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “His power is made perfect in your weakness. So I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 


That’s EXACTLY what this woman did. And God saved many, many lives through her willingness to boast of His power in her weakness. 


That same invitation stands for you, especially as you go through the Jesus virtual challenge. Wherever you feel led to share your story, don’t underestimate the power of showing up with vulnerability and honesty. 💪


God’s power shines brightest when we stop trying to look polished and start pointing to His goodness in our failures. 


Why Your Story Matters (Even If It Feels Small) 

The Samaritan Woman didn't run into town to make herself look good. She had every reason to stay quiet. She could have worried about what people would think or how they'd judge her sins.


Instead, she shared freely and eagerly because her story was about JESUS and what he did for her in that moment.


And the same is true for your story. 🫶


Ephesians 3:20 to 21 says: 

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever!” 


This is a well-loved verse, but so often we hear it used as a personal promise – “God will do immeasurably more than I can imagine FOR ME.” 


 We take that and run with it.


👇 MY business will grow.

👇 MY life will flourish.

👇 I will be blessed beyond measure. 


And while, yes, God does love to give good gifts to his children, that's NOT what Paul is saying here. If we stop at the first half of the verse, we miss the most important part – God works through us for HIS glory. Not glory to our lives, but to Himself so that future generations can also know Him. 


THIS is why your testimony matters! Your story IS the “ immeasurably more.” 💎 Every time God moves in your life –  whether in big ways or small, everyday, easily-missed moments – that is HIS power at work. 

 

The Impact of Your Testimony

When you share your story with those around you – whether with your kids at the dinner table or with a friend during the Jesus challenge – you do three things:


✅ You encourage others to seek the Lord.

✅ You plant seeds of faith that will impact generations.

✅ You open up your story for God to use to save others.


Friend, even if your story feels ordinary, it is not. God is in it! And someone needs to hear it.


So the pressure is off! You don't have to have all the right words. You don't have to explain everything perfectly. You just have to be willing to say, “Come and see what God has done in my life.” 


What Counts as a Testimony? 

At this point, you might be wondering what a testimony looks like in real life. Maybe you're still thinking, “But I don't have any exciting or moving stories to tell. At least nothing as incredible as the woman at the well.” 


Again, I want to challenge you here –  lovingly, of course –  you absolutely do.


 Think about your life.

 How has God worked in it? 🤔


I guarantee you there are things you once prayed for that you now live in. There are struggles you overcame, sins you are free of, and valleys you walk through with His help. Even if your life looks different than what you expected, you can still see God's hand in it the whole time.


Here are some questions to think about: 

  •  What's something you prayed for that you now have? 🙏

  •  Have you ever walked through a dark, hard, never ending season and come out the other side? 🌤️

  •  What has God freed you from? What did your life look like before you were freed? ⛓️

  •  What are some of the thousands of little gifts and miracles God sprinkles through your life everyday? 🪷


The answers to these questions are your testimonies.


You don't need a dramatic conversion story to share God's faithfulness. The Jesus challenge teaches you to notice and name those real-life moments where God showed up and use those moments to point yourself and others back to Him. 


God's faithfulness in your everyday life is worth sharing because it's about HIM! 🥳 And He is worth all the praise and adoration we could ever give. 


How to Share Your Testimony With the Jesus Challenge

So now the big question – HOW do you share your story? 


Simple: tell someone. 🗣️


If you’re a mom, start with your kids. Your stories of God's faithfulness are the bridge they need to connect the God of Bible stories to their own lives. Hearing how YOU experienced Him makes faith real and tangible for them. You never know how God will use your story to shape theirs. 


For most of us, sharing our testimony looks something like this: 

  • Over coffee with a friend, be vulnerable and simply say, “Hey, can I tell you what God's been doing in my life?” 

  • Send a quick text to encourage someone with God's faithfulness in your life. 

  • Share your story in the Jesus challenge Facebook group. I guarantee you will be welcomed with open arms, a flood of encouragement, and people who've gone through the same thing. 

  • Open up to a new walking buddy or neighbor you met during the virtual Jesus challenge. Your vulnerability will likely encourage them to share from the heart too! 


Yes, sharing your story takes courage. The Samaritan woman had everything to lose – her reputation, her comfort, her sense of safety – but she shared anyway. because her story showcased God's faithfulness and goodness in a broken, messy life. And that boldness to share saved many lives (probably people hiding in their own mess and brokenness). 


You don't have to say all the right words. 

Just speak from the heart. 


Let your admiration for Jesus flow freely, and trust God with how it lands. 🤲 


The Jesus challenge equips you to notice God's faithfulness, speak it out loud, and share it boldly with those around you. Not just to remember it yourself, but so others can come and see what God has done. 


🗣️ Be real. 

🗣️ Be vulnerable.

🗣️ Be authentic.

🗣️ Be faithful to testify to what God's done for you.


And then trust God with the impact! It's not your job to make it “land” or “speak” to someone. Your job is to obey and share joyfully. He will take care of the results. 

 

It’s Just Worship 

If the idea of sharing your story feels intimidating, let me reframe it for you: your testimony is simply worship.


No, I don't mean singing in church on Sundays. I'm talking about any moment where you just HAVE to talk about how good God is and what he's done in your life. 


That's what the Samaritan woman did! She didn't overthink it or craft the perfect – she simply ran to her town and said, “Come and see!” She wasn't trying to look impressive. She was just genuinely excited about Jesus. 😍 


The same is true for you. Sharing your story is a beautiful, humble act of worship. 


The virtual Jesus challenge helps you practice paying attention to God's faithfulness in your life and get comfortable talking about it. When you spend intentional time with Jesus every day, you’ll see Him move all over the place, and you can't help but want to share Him with others! 


Tell Your Story With the Jesus Challenge 

Don't worry about making it dramatic, polished, or perfect – it just has to be honest and real. People resonate with real. 


You never know who silently walking through their own valley, wondering if God sees them. 😔


So share the valley. 

Take the step. 

Proclaim His goodness.


Yes, it's scary. But it's also just worship! 😊 And what a joy it is to make Jesus the center of your –  to testify of the One who has met you, seen you, and changed you.
