It feels like you JUST put your kids back in school, and the holidays are already barreling down on you. One “busy” season slides directly into the next, giving you no time or freedom to slow down. You daily juggle lunches, play dates, work deadlines, unpleasant phone calls, and long drives in the car that somehow end with someone crying (possibly you). 😩

And all the while, you quietly wrestle with a deep desire to take better care of yourself. To spend more time with God. To eat healthier food that isn’t leftovers from your kid’s plate.

But one thought throws a wet blanket over that little spark: “But if I can’t do it perfectly, why start?” 😔

That’s the tension, right? You genuinely want to glorify God in every part of your life, including your own health. When you’re healthy, you’re happier and your family is happier! But the pressure to do it perfectly feels laughably out of reach.

You don’t have the capacity for an all-or-nothing plan that demands 100% participation, a color-coded macro counter, and a “quick” 45-minute HIIT workout with an influencer who never sweats. 🤔 You’re just trying to find a pair of leggings to throw on (preferably clean) and remember if you ate a vegetable this week.

Oh friend, I understand this experience so deeply. As a mom of two, business owner, and wife, I, too, wished for a way to stay healthy without forcing myself into a grueling routine I was always doomed to fail.

🚨 So today, I want to debunk this flawed cultural trap of “perfection” and offer you a sustainable, holistic, grace-filled approach to health and fitness: the Jesus challenge

From the moment you sign up, this Jesus virtual challenge takes into account your real-life busyness and commitments. It was designed BY a busy mom FOR busy parents who feel the tension of wanting to get healthy, but don't have the bandwidth for an all-or-nothing program.

Let’s get into it! 👇

The Trap of Perfection-Driven Fitness

🗣️ “If you can’t give 100%, it’s not worth starting.”

🗣️ “Your performance - and lack thereof - directly affects your worth.”

Those lies are everywhere – on Instagram, magazine covers, even in well-intentioned fitness challenges that require all-in or nothing. And we, weary-hearted parents, get sucked into the cycle:

  • Guilt. “I missed a workout again.”

  • Burnout. “Why do I even try?”

  • Avoidance. “Maybe next week. Or next year…”

  • Shame. “If I can’t do it perfectly, I shouldn’t even try.”

Perfectionist fitness is fueled by guilt, comparison, and exhaustion. If you don’t believe you're doing enough, you push hard, crash harder, and then hide from making any effort at all. Emotionally, that failure slices at your identity, saying, “You’re not enough until you do more.”

It’s a TOXIC, guilt-driven cycle, and we’ve all been caught up in it at some point or another. 🌪️

The saddest part is that we immediately project this mindset onto God and our faith. We believe that chasing perfection is the standard God expects of us and when we fall short, we aren’t enough.

🚨Let me set that lie straight right here: this is absolutely NOT what God intends for you. He doesn’t call you to perfection or performance. He invites us to walk with Him and be present.

Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

God doesn’t call you to be perfect in YOUR strength! He invites you to lean into HIS strength when you’re weak. 🤲 Not IF you’re weak, but when. We’re all weak, so why set ourselves up for immediate failure by holding ourselves to an impossible, man-made standard of perfection??

The Grace-Filled Alternative: The Jesus Challenge

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Man, don’t you crave that rest? 🥺

As a busy parent like you, I need a simple, practical way to stay healthy in body and spirit that reflects the promise we just read.

I want to steward my body, mind, and spirit WELL, but not lose myself in the endless spinning hamster wheel of perfection. I need something that ACTUALLY refreshes and replenishes my body and spirit, not another bootcamp that drains every drop of energy left at the end of a full day.

That’s why I designed the Jesus virtual challenge! Instead of being driven by comparison and guilt, the virtual Jesus challenge runs on dependence on GOD as your strength. It removes your own achievements and failures, focusing your efforts on being present with God and allowing Him to change you. 🧎

Michael Weaver completed the Jesus challenge in October 2025, and he shared, “My wife and I ordered this not knowing what it entailed and were happily surprised. After completing just the first few days, we both felt closer not only to each other with the discussions afterward but closer to God.”

What Is the Jesus Challenge?

The Jesus virtual challenge is beautifully simple:

  • A 40-day commitment

  • Walk or run 1 mile per day (preferably outside)

  • Read 1 pre-assigned Scripture passage while you walk.

  • Optional: participate in daily challenges to apply your Scripture reading.

  • Optional: participate in an encouraging Facebook accountability group to keep you on track.

That’s it! No pressure from leaderboards. No comparison to others. No timers. Just you, your walking shoes, and your Shepherd who’s eagerly waiting for you to walk with Him in His beautiful creation. Wow, doesn’t that just sound like such a relief?! 😮💨

Darryl Gonzales, who completed the virtual Jesus challenge in September 2025, said:

“I am so thankful, grateful for this amazing Challenge. This has been a great experience coming at a point in my life where it was just what I needed to improve my conscious contact with GOD. I love the T-shirt, sticker (which looks amazing on my jeep), medal, and booklet. I plan on continuing with the next 40/40 challenge. I’ll be ordering it shortly and completing further challenges. I’ve shared this with friends and especially with my twin sister.”

How The Jesus Challenge Fits Into A Busy Life

Sure, busy parents want to take care of their physical and spiritual health, but it's real life. We don’t have the time or energy to lock into a high-performance fitness regimen.

Here’s what sets the Jesus virtual challenge apart:

  • It’s flexible.  ✅ Miss a day? No worries! Pick up tomorrow and keep after it.

  • It’s realistic. 🚶 1 mile fits in before the house wakes up or during dance class.

  • It’s full of grace. 📖 The focus is on showing up with Jesus, not on stats or timing.

  • It’s deeply rejuvenating. 🔋 It doesn’t leave you exhausted, drained, and weary. When you come back from that walk, you’re filled with God’s life-giving Word, your metabolism is pumping, and you’re ready to conquer the day!

Instead of feeling crushed by pressure to be perfect, you’ll experience:

  • Stillness and peace when life feels crazy.

  • Manageable, steady health gains like weight loss, mobility, and heart health.

  • Stable energy to show up better for your family, work, and ministry.

Mary Welton, who completed the Jesus virtual challenge in October 2025, shared, “Really enjoyed this challenge. Not only did it get me moving and in the habit of exercising daily, but I loved being able to dive deeper with my relationship with God. I got more out of this than I expected, and I can’t wait to do the next one!"

Common Fears About the Jesus Challenge

If you’re still a little skeptical about the virtual Jesus challenge, that’s totally fair. Let’s talk about the questions every busy parent has before they join the challenge:

Q: What if I miss a day? 📅

  • Grace is built in. Release yourself from carrying guilt.

  • Pick up where you left off.

  • Do your best not to skip more than one day in a row.

  • Remember, the goal is the journey, not perfection.

Q: What if I’m out of shape? 🏋️

  • That’s perfect! You’re exactly where you need to be to get started.

  • Walk at your own pace, and your strength and confidence will grow day by day.

  • The goal is to keep showing up as much as you can.

Q: Does walking 1 mile a day really make a difference? 👟

  • Yes! Walking daily kickstarts energy, metabolism, and weight loss.

  • Thousands of challenge participants report significant health improvements

  • Adding Scripture and prayer helps your heart and soul stay healthy, too.

Q: How much time does it take each day? ⌛

  • About 15-20 minutes for most people.

  • One mile with God is doable even on busy-busy days.

  • The time you spend walking with God reaps an abundance of energy, joy, patience, and confidence.

Q: Is this for mature believers, or is it more for beginner Christians? 🙏

  • It’s for both! No matter how long you’ve been walking with God, the Jesus virtual challenge significantly deepens your intimacy with Him.

  • It invites mature believers to slow down and return to a habit of listening and dependence.

  • This challenge helps you step away from all the hustle and bustle and refill your tank in the nourishing presence of God.

Q: Can I do a different form of exercise? 🏃

  • Absolutely! 20 minutes of a different exercise accomplishes the same physical and spiritual goal.

  • Whatever exercise you choose to do, it counts as movement and time dedicated to the Lord

Q: Can I do it with my kids or spouse? 👪

  • Yes, the virtual Jesus challenge is family-friendly!

  • Walks can become your family’s connection time: before school, after dinner, or on weekends.

  • It’s a great way to model faith, discipline, and consistency to your family.

  • Check out our Junior challenge so your kids can study God’s Word alongside you.

Q: Do I need Facebook to join? 💻

  • Nope! The Facebook group is optional for support and accountability

  • All core materials are delivered right to your inbox and front door.

Sarah Schwarz, a Jesus challenge participant in October 2025, said,

“I joined for the cute t-shirt and medal. What I got was an experience I never expected. The Lord met me in a real way every day. Through His Word, through the challenges, through meeting other participants, and so much more. The Holy Spirit met me every step of the way.”
