We all know the virtual Jesus challenge as a great way to take the next step in our personal relationship with Jesus. We walk, read Scripture, find our community, and show up consistently for 40 days.

I’d like to introduce you to something very special and dear to our hearts: the Forty Forty Scholarship.
A portion of our proceeds go towards yearly scholarships designed to recognize and support Christ followers who are out in the trenches, making disciples and exemplifying His name. These are not super-Christians, they’re normal people like you and me who intentionally pursue and obey God’s calling. 🧎
Although much of our reward will be in Heaven, we want to empower as many as we can on earth for being devoted laborers who wholeheartedly serve Jesus.

Why Does the Virtual Jesus Challenge Have a Scholarship?
From the beginning, Andrew and I never wanted this to just be a business that sells challenges.
Obviously, we need the business to be successful in order to keep doing what we’re doing. But we also believe that if God blessed us with this platform and community, then we have a responsibility to use it for more than ourselves. 🤲
The heart behind the scholarship is really simple: we want to help people and further God’s Kingdom.
There are SO many people quietly doing incredible things for Jesus who may never receive much recognition for it. Some of the applications we read are about…
🤱 raising children to follow Jesus, through incredibly tough circumstances
⛪ starting ministries to fill a need in the community
🩺 pursuing careers in the medical field or counseling so they can pour into others
📖 discipling others in God’s Word
🕊️ starting businesses that magnify Christ
🏥 trusting God with dire financial or medical needs most of us know nothing about
🎤 using whatever gifts He gives them to point people to Jesus
We wanted to find a tangible way to come alongside some of these people and say, “We see what you’re doing, we believe in what God’s doing through you, and we want to help.”
As the Jesus virtual challenge grows, we very intentionally set aside a portion of what God’s blessed us with to give back. We see this as stewardship of God’s gifts.
We don’t want everything that comes into the business to simply stay within the business. 🔁 As God allows the Jesus challenge to grow, we want the amount of our giving and the number of people we help to grow with it. 📈
At the end of the day, none of this is ours anyway. The virtual Jesus challenge wouldn’t exist without God and the community He’s building. So this scholarship is one small way we can take what He entrusted to use and pour it back into His people and His kingdom. 🚰
Who Is the Jesus Challenge Scholarship For?
At its heart, it’s for people who love Jesus and are making a difference with what He gives them.
🚨 I want to make this clear: you do not have to have a giant ministry, thousands of followers, or a huge platform to make a life-changing impact for the Kingdom.
A huge part of what we’re looking for is someone’s heart for Jesus and what they’re doing with God’s calling on them.
And the applications we receive reflect just how many different ways God works through His people.
🧑🏫 Sometimes Kingdom work looks like impacting a classroom full of kids.
⛓️💥Sometimes it’s raising your children differently than you were raised.
👆 Sometimes it’s being the one person at work who unashamedly points people towards Jesus.
❤️🩹 Sometimes it’s pursuing a dream God put on your heart even when the road to get there is very difficult.
We want to celebrate these stories!
We’re not looking for the person doing the biggest or most impressive thing. There isn’t one obvious “most deserving” person. There are so many people we would love to help, and many times this looks like being obedient in the ordinary, daily things.
In the virtual Jesus challenge, we talk so much about taking the next step with Jesus. The scholarship is just an extension of that. Many times someone knows what their next step is, they just need a little help taking it.
So as long as God sustains it, we want to come alongside them and equip and empower them to take that next step with Jesus for His glory. 🙌
The Ripple Effect of Your Sign-Up
One of my favorite parts of the scholarship is that YOU are a huge part of it, too. 😊
We may be the ones reading applications and writing the checks, but this is something our entire Jesus challenge community builds together. 🤝
I’d love for us to look back years from now and see not only thousands of people who have a more intimate relationship with Christ because of the challenge, but also the ripple effect of the scholarships those participants made possible.

🙏 Families built up in truth.

If we, together, can equip and empower even a handful of people every year, those people also go out and impact hundreds of thousands of others for Jesus. 📈 And it’s not just them. It’s you and me, too! That’s pretty incredible to think about.
He multiplies our obedience into redemption and renewal beyond what we could EVER imagine.
And it starts with one small, private step of obedience today.
